Bulawayo

"people are living testimony to the unconquerable spirit of mankind. Down the years, against, seemingly overwhelming odds, they have sought the goals of fuller life and liberty, striving with incredible determination and fortitude for the right to live as men – free men."  Chief Albert Luthuli

Bringing Zimfest to Zimbabwe!

It’s been a long time coming but plans are now well underway to host the first Zimfest on Zimbabwean soil! As an organisation born in exile and an event that was started to keep our community abroad together and focused we are very excited to finally have the opportunity to host Zimfest at home.

The City of Kings

A fiercely proud and liberated City, Bulawayo has stood out in the history of Zimbabwe as a place where free thinking and principled action have always found a home. Often embattled but always resillient Zimbabwe’s second city offers much to those who live in Zim as well as visitors to the country. Bulawayo is also well located to allow access to the huge number of Zimbabweans living in South Africa and shares very strong links with South Africa.

Bulawayo is the birth place of many famous Zimbabweans including Nobel Peace prize winner Albert Luthuli, father Zimbabwe Joshua Nkomo, world renowned race car driver John Love, singer Dorothy Masuku, Jazz musician Paul Lunga, playwright Conte Mhlanga, former Zimbabwe cricket captain Heath Streak and many other Zimbabweans that have done our country and our people proud.

Shikisha! Sing out loud!!

It is the soul of the city that above all makes it a natural choice for the first Zimfest to be held in Zimbabwe. The city has always been in love wth music and is ne of those places in Africa where people naturally break out into song. Be it during a hard days work, at church, in protest, watching sport or just chilling out somewhere the people of Bulawayo sing with a deep and soulful passion that is hard to replicate.

We are proud to be holding Zimfest in Bulawayo and certain the people of Bulawayo will get behind this event and welcome all who take the time to attend

Peace and luv always
