Cape Town

"The curious beauty of African music is that it uplifts even as it tells a sad tale. You may be poor, you may have only a ramshackle house, you may have lost your job, but that song gives you hope.” Nelson Mandela

After a successful launch in 2008 Zimfest Cape Town promises to be bigger and better these are exciting times, we are working closely with the Zimfest teams around the world to deliver a world class festival that instead of dwelling on the unfortunate situation that has prevailed in Zimbabwe in the past few year. As Zimbabweans and friends of Zimbabwe we have a responsability to celebrate all that is good about Zim and to show the world that there is another way and that  Zimbabweans are not as divided as it may seem.

Most importantly Zimfest is always for a good cause, the Cape Town event will continue to support PASSOP ((People against Suffering, Suppression, Oppression and Poverty) a community based NGO that advocates for the rights of refugees, a true voice for the voiceless.

“It takes courage to be a refugee, to leave behind your family, friends, home and life and enter a new country with no knowledge of your rights. Individuals do not become refugees out of choice; they are forced to do so out of necessity.  The right to a life without fear of police brutality and xenophobia is a human right. You can directly, positively influence the lives of refugees and asylum seekers forced to live in South Africa by coming to ZIMFEST 09 and by making a donation to PASSOP.” www.passop.co.za

Peace and luv always
