The Zimfest 7s

From it's inception Zimfest london has always included a 7s Rugby tournament. This has grown from strength to strength largely through the efforts of Niall Igoe and the Zimbabwe Sevens Rugby organisation.

In 2009 the Zimfest 7s tournament took a massive step forward by securing sponsorship from Guiness Premiership giants Saracens. With former Springboks Derick Hougaard, Neil De Kock, Schalk Britz and  Wikus van Heerden in their ranks and with a strong South African influence Saracens is rapidly gaining a special place in the hearts of the Southern African Rugby fans. Their involvement in Zimfest 2009 is something to look forward to and is more evidence of the growth of the appeal of Zimfest.

This year we are looking forward to a stellar tournament which along with entries from Zimbabwean Old Boys associations and Raynes Park Rugby club is also like to include entries by the Springbok supporters club in the UK and representative teams from Wallabies and All Black fans based in London. There is also an entry backed by one of Londons longest standing southern hemisphere party venues The Church.
