Mauritian-British JP Kairo is a DJ, radio presenter and promoter specializing in deep, afro-tech and tribal house. He has been a DJ for more than a decade.
His style is influenced by DJs such as Black Coffee, Rocco and Culoe De Song. In 2011 he released his first official mix tape the ‘Safari Experience’ podcast that showcased his sound and gave him exposure as a professional DJ on the house music scene.
In November 2012 he started hosting a weekly radio show, ‘The Planet House Show’ on the internet-based radio station Urban Jazz Radio; the show features guest mixes from established DJs and producers on the house scene. The show was an instant success and has widened his fan base beyond the UK to France, South Africa, Australia and the US. He also appeared on the leading radio station for house music in The Netherland’s, QH Radio, and has had his mixes played on several international radio stations.
Since 2013, JP has been resident DJ for Focus playing at venues such as Cargo, Bedroom Bar, Passing Clouds and ZimFest. Internationally, he has played in Milan, Italy. In 2014 he worked in partnership with DJ Garphie (ThinkHouseMusic/Vega Records) and Aluku Rebels (Aluku Records) to create the event ‘Pangaea’ now known as ‘ Afrotronik,’ and where he is a resident DJ and business partner.
The South London DJ has received recognition for his work after being nominated in the DJ of the Year category at the BEFFTA awards 2014.
